MSN 247 was a Vickers Viscount V.779 built for Fred Olsen Flyselskap A/S and registered as LN-FOM. The aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines first flew at Hurn, England on Monday March 11, 1957 and was delivered to Fred Olsen on April 30, 1957. On January 1, 1958 the aircraft was leased to AUA – Austrian Airlines and was registered as OE-LAE. After 2 years and 4 months the aircraft was returned to Fred Olsen in April, 1960. BEA – British European Airways was the next to lease the aircraft in June 1960 and registered it as G-ARBW. BEA returned the aircraft in April 1961. From December 1961 until January 1962 (2 months) SAS - Scandinavian Airlines System leased the aircraft as LN-FOM. Once again returned to Fred Olsen the aircraft was sold to IAC - Indian Airlines Corp. on January 28, 1962. The new registration was VT-DOD and given the name "Madras" and later renamed "Mysore". MSN 247 was in operation as VT-DOD for 9 years before being withdrawn from service in July 1971. The aircraft was stored for a while but eventually fell victim to the wrecker at Palam, Delhi, India.
